Lactation Support Services

Breast feeding is an important part of the post partum period.  As beneficial as it is for both mother and baby, there is a lot of effort needed on the part of both to establish successful breast feeding.  Sometimes, in spite of trying everything, a woman cannot fully breast feed her child.

Education and support are pivotal in the early post partum when trouble arises.   For our patients, we offer a class in breastfeeding in the office, during the evening or on a weekend, once a month for patients in the last trimester.  Classes are taught by our lactation education, Nadia Wadalawala, RN.

After going home from the hospital after delivery, Nadia also calls to check on new moms after a few weeks.  Should problems be identified, lactation consultations can be set up via Skype, to allow for maximum comfort of new moms in their own home.

Upcoming Classes

Breastfeeding classes are taught by our lactation educator in the office at least once a month in the evening or on a weekend.  If you are interested in signing up, please call or email the office to reserve a spot.  Space is limited, so be sure to sign up early.  Classes are $20 per patient, one person may come with each patient at no additional cost.

About Nadia Wadalawala, RN

I am a mother to an 18-month-old girl who I breastfed until she self-weaned at the age of 15 months. Initially, when she was born, I had a difficult time breastfeeding; however, I received help and encouragement from my local Lactation Consultants to continue breastfeeding. Their support and encouragement inspired me to help mothers and babies through their breastfeeding journey. As a Registered Nurse since 2010, I have worked in a variety of settings such as hospitals, clinics, and schools, which have enhanced my professional experience. I am delighted to join El Camino Medical Women’s Group and be part of their philosophy in providing quality care and time to patients to meet their needs. My professional goal is to provide support, solutions, and confidence to women as they endeavor to provide this great, natural gift of breastfeeding to their children.  I am currently undergoing coursework to become a certified lactation consultant.
