ow Does the MonaLisa Touch Work?
The MonaLisa Touch uses pulses of CO2 laser energy to treat some of the most common side effects of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) and vulvovaginal atrophy. Many post-menopausal women experience gynecologic health issues because of naturally declining estrogen levels. The MonaLisa Touch is a hormone-free treatment that is perfect for breast cancer survivors or hysterectomy patients who cannot undergo hormonal therapies for conditions like vaginal atrophy. The gentle laser energy promotes collagen growth in the vaginal tissues to restore natural functions. With MonaLisa Touch laser treatments, it is possible to alleviate uncomfortable symptoms and improve your quality of life.
The MonaLisa Touch can treat some of the most common symptoms caused by hormonal changes including:
Vaginal atrophy/laxity
Vaginal dryness
Vaginal itching
Burning sensations
Painful urination
Pain during intercourse
Frequent vaginal and urinary tract infections
Urinary urgency/ frequency
Mild urinary incontinence

MonaLisa Touch laser vaginal revitalization is a simple outpatient procedure that can be performed in the comfort of our office. The treatment can be completed in less than 30 minutes, with the laser application itself lasting less than five minutes. A typical treatment course includes three sessions spaced approximately six weeks apart. In many cases, patients will begin to notice improvement almost immediately after the first session. An annual maintenance appointment is also recommended to maintain your results. MonaLisa Touch treatments are not considered painful, but an anesthetic can be applied before treatment to help reduce discomfort. Patients should avoid sexual activity and strenuous activity for a few days following the procedure, but can otherwise resume their normal routines without experiencing any downtime.
The MonaLisa Touch treatment is available at El Camino Women’s Medical Group. Call the office (650-396-8110) or email Shar (moc.n1660874186emoWo1660874186nimaC1660874186lE@ra1660874186hS1660874186) for more information.
