The Board of Trustees of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) has reflected on the US Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe vs Wade and the sweeping range of emotions it has generated. The primary focus of NAMS is on late-reproductive and postreproductive female health, and we are and will always be health advocates for women. NAMS remains committed to advancing the science and the delivery of high-quality, equitable, evidence-based care to all women.
The Board is deeply troubled by the Supreme Court’s decision. We recognize the challenges and obstacles our members and the women they care for will encounter as a result and how this will disproportionately affect those who already face significant barriers to care.
We respect the beliefs of all our members and stand in solidarity in supporting what is right and just in speaking against any entity that does not support optimal care for all. We cannot condone laws that impose unjust and inequitable health consequences on members of our society and the families of those they serve.
